President Donald Trump's administration has taken a new step
in the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a deported illegal immigrant gang member,
that likely won't sit well with the federal judge overseeing one aspect of the
case.
The Department of Justice has invoked the state secrets
privilege in response to U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis's request for more
details about the case, Politico reported.
This is the second time the privilege has been used in this
case; the first occurred when Chief District Judge James Boasberg demanded more
information about the deportee.
The use of the privilege was disclosed in an order issued by
Xinis on Wednesday, according to the report.
