President Donald Trump dismissed ABC News' Terry Moran's
question about his confidence in Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth as
"stupid."
In a prime-time interview Tuesday marking his 100th
anniversary in office, Trump was asked about his conversations with Hegseth,
who has recently drawn attention for using the encrypted app Signal for
official business and for the ongoing restructuring at the Pentagon that
resulted in the departure of his top advisers.
"Did you take him to the shed?" Moran asked at one
point.
"I talked to him, and whatever I said, I probably
wouldn't be inclined to tell you, but we had a good conversation," Trump
responded.
"He's a talented guy, he's young, he's smart, he's very
well educated, and I think he'll be a very good secretary of defense—hopefully
a great secretary of defense, but he'll be a very good secretary of
defense," Trump added.
