The Senate approved three ambassadors: for the United Kingdom, Türkiye and Italy

The Republican-controlled US Senate approved President Donald Trump's nomination of three ambassadors on Tuesday, to the United Kingdom, Turkey, and Italy, respectively.

The three new ambassadors, Warren Stephens, Tom Barrack, and Tilman Feritta, are billionaires who generously support Trump and other Republicans. They all received some Democratic votes, as did all Republicans.

On Tuesday morning, the Senate approved Stephens as the new ambassador to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland by a vote of 59 to 39.

Arkansas Republican Senator Tom Cotton spoke in support of Stephens, an investment banker from his home state, describing him as a "family man, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and patriot."
