WASHINGTON – Chinese President Xi Jinping called for strengthening cooperation with the United States and moving forward together amid ongoing negotiations between the two powers.
During
his talks with President Donald Trump, Xi stressed the importance of
maintaining dialogue and seeking common ground between Beijing and Washington.
“Let’s
join forces and move forward together,” the Chinese leader said, in a message
aimed at boosting cooperation and reducing tensions between the two countries.
The
remarks come as the United States and China hold talks on trade, technology,
and strategic issues, while both sides seek to preserve existing agreements to
avoid further escalation in their economic relations.
The
meeting between Xi and Trump represents one of the major recent diplomatic
efforts to keep communication channels open between the world’s two largest
economies.
