WASHINGTON – A federal judge has temporarily ordered the Trump administration to reinstate the press credentials of CNN, MSN Now, and Politico after journalists from these outlets lost access to certain White House events.
The
ruling was issued as a preliminary injunction while the litigation against the
administration's press access policy proceeds.
The
decision allows journalists from the three organizations to regain their
credentials and continue their reporting within the White House during the
legal proceedings.
The
court's decision, however, does not constitute a final ruling on the
constitutionality of the Trump administration's policy. The court must still
review arguments from both sides before issuing a final ruling.
The
case reignites the dispute between the White House and several media outlets
that are already perceived by the public as purveyors of sensationalist news.
