The president of the National Rally party, Jordan Bardella, criticized the Eiffel Tower administration for allegedly giving in to the demands of a Hindu religious group that reportedly requested the expulsion of female employees from the public service area.
The French leader described the incident as an act of “institutional submission” and expressed his concern about what he considers a violation of women's rights within a public and emblematic space in France.
Bardella maintained that no religious pressure should supersede the principles of equality and freedom that, he asserted, must prevail in French institutions and public spaces.
“Our civilizational values are non-negotiable,” declared the political leader, warning against what he considers a concession to demands that could affect women's rights.
Bardella's statements come amid a debate in France about the coexistence of religious practices and the principles of secularism, equality, and individual rights that govern the country's public life.
