WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Donald Trump launched a scathing attack against those who warn about the potential risks of artificial intelligence (AI) and the impact of data centers, comparing their concerns to warnings related to climate change.
In a message released by the president, Trump asserted that those who claim AI could “destroy the world” or consider the installation of data centers in their communities harmful are the same ones who previously warned of a possible catastrophe stemming from climate change.
Trump labeled these warnings a “hoax” and accused his critics of acting like “revolutionaries” for a cause he claims is harmful to the United States.
The president also stated that these people “will soon discover they are working for people who do not have America’s best interests at heart,” in a renewed attack against those who question the development of the infrastructure necessary to expand artificial intelligence.
The statements come amid a growing debate in the United States about the expansion of data centers, the energy consumption they require, and the economic, environmental, and social consequences of the rapid development of artificial intelligence.
