immigration policies and its refusal to cooperate with US operations in the
Strait of Hormuz.
US President Donald Trump criticized the United Kingdom for
its immigration policy and London's decision not to participate in certain US
operations in the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
During his remarks, Trump questioned the British position
and warned that the decisions made by the UK government could end up harming
its own interests.
"They are hurting themselves," the US president
stated, referring to the British position.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the main maritime routes for
the global transport of oil and gas, so any increase in military tensions in
the area generates concern among international markets and Washington's allied
governments.
The differences between the United States and the United
Kingdom also reflect the distinct approaches both governments take to
immigration policy and the level of involvement London should assume in US
military operations in the Middle East. The former is right-wing, the latter
left-wing.
