WASHINGTON—US President Donald Trump called the recent meeting between representatives of Washington and Beijing a success, asserting that the encounter was marked by friendship, strength, and success between the two nations.
In a statement, Trump indicated that the talks allowed
progress on various issues of bilateral interest and confirmed that he will
meet again with Chinese officials in the coming months.
The US president indicated that the next meeting will take
place in November, during a visit to China. Subsequently, both governments will
meet again at the G20 summit, scheduled for December in Miami, Florida.
“Much has been accomplished and much more will be
accomplished,” stated Trump, who added that he looks forward to the upcoming
meetings with Chinese officials.
These meetings are part of the high-level contacts between
the United States and China to address issues of economic, trade, and strategic
interest, in a context marked by differences between the two powers.
