During a conversation with Trey Gowdy, President Donald
Trump was asked if, given the opportunity to start his political career over,
he would ride the famous escalator that marked the beginning of his
presidential campaign.
“If you had to start all over again, would you go down the
escalator?” Gowdy asked.
Trump responded by reminiscing about his life before
entering politics and the importance, according to him, of his decision to run
for president.
“I had a wonderful life, but I had a phrase that you may
have heard before: ‘Let’s Make America Great Again’… Nothing is more
important,” he stated.
The reference to riding the escalator alludes to the
advertisement with which Trump launched his 2015 presidential campaign, a
moment that subsequently became one of the most recognizable images of his
political career.
