Letitia James's Office Accused of Ordering Investigations Against Trump and His Allies

A prosecutor in the office of New York Attorney General Letitia James allegedly received instructions to investigate President Donald Trump and organizations linked to him, according to documents cited by the New York Post.

According to the report, Wiesenfeld stated in an email that Shamiso Maswoswe, the office chief, ordered him to specifically investigate Trump, Truth Social, and Hewlett Packard, even though—according to Wiesenfeld—there was no credible reason to open investigations against those organizations and individuals.

“Wiesenfeld alleged in his email that the office chief, Shamiso Maswoswe, specifically ordered him to investigate Trump himself, Truth Social, and Hewlett Packard (...) without having a credible reason to investigate said organizations and individuals,” the report states.

The statements have raised questions about the handling of investigations within the state prosecutor's office and whether some of them may have been politically motivated. So far, the accusations correspond to the version attributed to Wiesenfeld and will need to be corroborated with documentation and responses from the parties involved.
