Trump Proposes Facilitating Military Veterans' Access to the Trucking Industry

US President Donald Trump announced an initiative aimed at increasing the participation of Armed Forces veterans in the trucking industry, proposing that these workers fill positions that, he claimed, are currently held by undocumented immigrants in that sector.

During his announcement, Trump stated that military personnel who have operated heavy vehicles as part of their active duty duties will have easier access to the job market as professional drivers. He explained that any US citizen with experience driving large trucks within the Armed Forces will be automatically eligible to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL), a requirement to legally work as a trucking operator in the United States.

The president argued that the measure seeks to recognize the experience and training acquired by veterans during their military service, while also aiming to meet the demand for operators in the trucking industry by hiring US citizens with prior experience operating heavy vehicles.

Furthermore, Trump framed the proposal within his immigration policy and efforts to strengthen domestic employment, reiterating his stance of prioritizing the hiring of American workers in strategic sectors of the economy. According to his statements, the initiative aims to reduce reliance on migrant labor in certain activities and expand job opportunities for those who served in the Armed Forces.
