A federal judge recommended allowing the case against a
Wisconsin judge accused of helping a Mexican immigrant evade federal custody to
proceed.
In April, Milwaukee County Judge Hannah Dugan was arrested
and charged with obstructing an immigration arrest operation.
Dugan pleaded not guilty to the federal charges against her
in May, arguing that, as a judge, she is immune from prosecution for activities
carried out in the course of her official duties in and around the courthouse.
She also alleged that the federal prosecutor's office violated the
constitutional separation of powers.
