The FBI is creating a multi-agency security team to protect
Deputy Director Dan Bongino around the clock, including inside agency
headquarters.
Bongino would be the first deputy director to have such a
team, which could require up to 20 agents, according to the article. Last week,
the FBI sent a request to agents asking for volunteers to take time off from
their regular responsibilities to protect Bongino as part of a "temporary
assignment," which meant several groups of agents would rotate through.
According to the article, Bongino is a former Secret Service
agent and former New York City police officer who could carry a handgun, but
chose not to due to his preference for details.
