California isn't failing because of ordinary people. It's failing because the powerful built a system that makes life more expensive, protects the political class, and punishes those who actually work.
Steve's plan is based on two priorities: Califordable and
CaliFuture.
CaliFuture:
Improving our schools, creating real opportunities, and
reigniting California's growth.
Every student reads
by third grade: If a child can't read by third grade, everything gets more
complicated later on. Steve will ensure that schools focus on the basics and
that every student receives the support they need to read on time.
Skills training in every
school: Schools must prepare students for real life, not just get them
through the grades. Steve will expand skills training and career pathways in
every school so that students graduate ready for work, vocational training, or
college.
End the $745 billion
waste that destroys jobs: California government has become an inefficient
machine that consumes money, slows everything down, and makes it difficult to
create, hire, and grow businesses. Steve will tackle this waste and cut
unnecessary spending.
Abolish the $800
small business tax: California shouldn't penalize those who start a
business. Steve will abolish the $800 annual small business tax and make it
easier for entrepreneurs to start and sustain their businesses.
