Quantico, Virginia—U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth once again used forceful language to describe the transformation he intends to implement within the Armed Forces during the Trump administration.
During a State of the Armed Forces address at the Marine
Corps base in Quantico, Virginia, Hegseth summarized his vision for the new
military model with a phrase that quickly drew reactions:
“No fat people, no trans people, no bearded men, no freaks,
no cowards, no radicals; only warriors.”
The official added that the goal is to have “tough,
prepared, and committed” troops and affirmed that the War Department—Hegseth’s
nickname for the Department of Defense—must operate on a merit-based system.
“It’s colorblind, gender-neutral, and merit-based,” he
stated, describing his vision for the Department of War. He also used the term
“patriotic cowboys” to refer to the type of military personnel who, according
to him, should replace those he considers part of an outdated, ideologically
driven culture.
Hegseth also announced a 20% reduction in the number of
generals and admirals as part of a reorganization of the military's top brass.
The secretary maintains that the measure aims to reduce bureaucracy and
strengthen the accountability of military leaders.
The speech also included announcements about new
technological initiatives, the development of drones and autonomous systems, as
well as changes to military training and the creation of an Office of Religious
Affairs within the Pentagon.
His remarks confirm the cultural shift that the current
administration seeks to implement in the Armed Forces, returning to the origins
of those chosen to defend the country. atrás los cambios que los demócratas
habían realizado anteponiendo la incultura de género.
