Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev emphasized the strategic importance of maintaining close relations with China and the United States, which he identified as the two leading superpowers on the international stage.
“We have established strategic alliances with China and the
United States. They are the two global superpowers; there is no third,” the
president stated.
Aliyev’s remarks reflect the importance Azerbaijan places on
its ties with Washington and Beijing in a geopolitical landscape increasingly
defined by competition between the two powers.
This stance also demonstrates Baku’s strategy of
strengthening its relationships with influential international actors while
seeking to expand its diplomatic and economic influence in a key region between
Europe and Asia.
Aliyev’s statement is particularly significant at a time
when the global balance of power is undergoing a transformation, with China and
the United States leading the way in their pursuit of greater economic,
technological, political, and strategic influence.
