LONDON – British Prime Minister Andy Burnham is reportedly
considering providing military assistance to Saudi Arabia in its efforts to
combat the Houthis, including the potential deployment of military advisors to
Riyadh.
The proposal envisions greater cooperation between the two
countries on security and defense matters, in a context marked by tensions in
the Middle East and the Houthis' actions in the region.
The possible deployment of British advisors would aim to
support Saudi forces in terms of strategy and military capabilities, although a
final decision on sending personnel has not yet been confirmed.
The possibility of greater British involvement could
generate new diplomatic and military implications in the region, particularly
given the risk of an escalation of the conflict with the Houthis.
At the moment, any decision on the scope of British
assistance remains under evaluation by the UK government.
