Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar announced a series of
measures against the United Kingdom after London imposed trade sanctions on
products from Israeli settlements in the West Bank.
Among the announced retaliatory measures is the closure of
the British consulate in East Jerusalem, which provides services related to the
Palestinian Authority. Israel will also exclude the UK from the international
coordination mission for Gaza and end British training of Palestinian Authority
security forces.
Saar added that certain British citizens, including some
officials and politicians, will be banned from entering Israel.
The Israeli foreign minister called the British measures an
unacceptable interference in Israel's internal affairs and stated that the
response was coordinated with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The decision comes after the UK, along with other countries,
announced trade restrictions on products from Israeli settlements in the West
Bank, further escalating diplomatic tensions between London and Jerusalem.
