WASHINGTON—President Donald Trump launched a new attack
against his political adversaries, accusing sectors of the American left,
Democrats, and Communists of preferring a US defeat in the conflict with Iran
to a victory for his administration.
“The lunatics of the radical left, the Democrats, and the
Communists would rather we lose the war in Iran than have President Donald J.
Trump win the war for America,” Trump stated.
The president summarized his accusation with a blunt phrase:
“They’d rather we lose than win!”
Trump also lashed out at those who question his decisions,
attributing their criticism to what he called a deep-seated hatred of him.
“They are very sick people who suffer from a severe
Trump-hating syndrome,” he said, using the expression “Trump delusion syndrome”
to describe his detractors. The statements again show the STRONG TONE with
which Trump usually responds to his political critics, particularly when he
faces questions about his decisions on foreign policy and national security.
