NEW YORK – The New York Police Department's bomb squad was
mobilized after a suspicious suitcase was found abandoned near 42nd Street and
Third Avenue, close to the United Nations General Assembly.
The discovery occurred while US President Donald Trump was
traveling through the area in a presidential motorcade, according to
information provided by the NYPD.
Authorities established a preventative operation in the area
to inspect the luggage and determine if it posed any risk. The incident
occurred amidst the extensive security measures deployed in New York for the UN
General Assembly.
So far, authorities have not confirmed whether the suitcase
contained any dangerous device.
