WASHINGTON—US President Donald Trump stated that there are
currently no ongoing talks or scheduled meetings with Iran, while naval
pressure on Tehran continues.
Trump also asserted that the Strait of Hormuz remains open
and maintained that mines posing a threat to navigation have been removed or
detonated.
The statements come amid tensions between Washington and
Tehran and uncertainty surrounding the security of one of the main maritime
routes for international oil and gas transport.
The US president also ruled out, for the time being, any
planned diplomatic contacts with the Iranian government, contrary to reports
suggesting possible efforts to establish channels of dialogue.
The situation surrounding the Strait of Hormuz continues to
be closely monitored by international markets and governments of various
countries due to its strategic importance for global energy trade.
