NETHERLANDS – Thousands of people participated in
demonstrations across the Netherlands to express their rejection of illegal
immigration and demand greater border control from the government.
According to reports circulating on social media and various
news outlets, the gatherings drew large crowds, at times overwhelming the
capacity of the police forces responsible for maintaining order.
During the protests, demonstrators chanted slogans demanding
"reclaim their country" and called for stricter immigration policies,
amid a growing debate about immigration and security in the European nation.
Dutch authorities have not yet released an official tally on
the number of participants, incidents, or possible arrests related to these
demonstrations.
