French MEP Sarah Knafo launched a scathing attack on
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen during a speech in which she
questioned her leadership of the EU body.
In her address, Knafo stated: "We no longer expect
anything from you, and yet you manage to disappoint us even more. You will
never change. The only thing European citizens expect from you is your
resignation."
These statements come amid growing political polarization
within the European Parliament, where various groups have expressed conflicting
views on von der Leyen's handling of issues such as the economy, immigration,
energy policy, and international relations.
This adds to the constant criticism from European citizens
against von der Leyen, who is constantly reminded that: "Nobody elected
her."
While some sectors support the continuity of the President
of the European Commission, others have intensified their criticism and are
demanding a change in the political direction of the European Union.
