Report Warns of Growing Divergences Among Iranian Leadership Over the Course of the Conflict and the Economic Crisis

A recently released report indicates that tensions within Iran's leadership have intensified as a result of the ongoing conflict and the deteriorating economic situation, revealing conflicting positions between the political leadership and the military high command.

According to the report, various commanders within the Armed Forces and security agencies maintain a position in favor of continuing the confrontation, believing that yielding in the current scenario could weaken the Islamic Republic's deterrent capacity and affect its strategic interests in the region.

In contrast, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has reportedly expressed concern about the impact that a prolonged conflict would have on the national economy and the living conditions of the population. According to the report, the president warned that increased sanctions, inflation, currency depreciation, and decreased productive activity could exacerbate the social crisis facing the country. The document argues that, if the current trend continues, millions of Iranian citizens could be affected by increased poverty, shortages of essential goods, and growing food insecurity, representing one of the greatest internal challenges for the government in recent years.

The differences between those who prioritize a military response and those who consider it essential to prevent further economic deterioration reflect the complex scenario facing the Iranian leadership, in a context marked by international pressure, economic constraints, and growing social demands within the country.
