A post circulating on social media and attributed to the
Wall Street Apes claims that Los Angeles authorities allocated approximately
$100 million to a private company owned by Chinese businessman Wei Huang to
operate a hotel for the homeless.
According to the post, the contract stipulated that the city
would pay $154 per room per night, including meals, regardless of occupancy.
The post alleges that at one point, the shelter's occupancy rate was only 24%,
which significantly increased the cost per person.
The post also states that 14 rooms were rendered unusable
after a fire and that a school located in the same building filed a lawsuit
against the city, reporting incidents such as break-ins, drug paraphernalia,
and human waste in the vicinity. It further claims that $5 million was spent on
repairing the building's windows.
The publication adds that the building's owner, identified
as Wei Huang, left the United States for China in 2018 after the Federal Bureau
of Investigation (FBI) launched an investigation related to the case. It also
alleges that the businessman made donations to the Democratic Party.
