The publication of the court order
issued by Judge Santiago Pedraz of the National Court has sparked a new political
storm in Spain, after the document refers to alleged maneuvers aimed at
influencing legal proceedings related to the government and the Spanish
Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE.
According to the order, the
investigation points to the possible existence of an organized structure that
allegedly acted to obstruct, deactivate, or influence legal cases considered
sensitive for the ruling party. The document mentions alleged pressure,
attempts at influence, and suspected coercion directed at members of the judicial
system and law enforcement agencies.
One of the aspects that has
generated the most repercussions is that the name of the Spanish Prime
Minister, Pedro Sánchez, appears several times in the court ruling. According
to interpretations circulated by political and media sectors, the judge links
the origin of certain political and strategic movements to the period known as
the “five days of reflection” announced by Sánchez months ago, when the
president publicly questioned his continued leadership of the government.
The ruling also refers to alleged
financial resources originating from internal structures of the PSOE (Spanish
Socialist Workers' Party) which, according to the investigation, were used to
implement strategies related to the political and legal protection of
individuals close to the government. In this context, the case now involves
prominent figures within the socialist organization, including individuals
linked to the party's Organization Secretariat and administrative management.
As part of the authorized
proceedings, the judge allowed the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil
Guard to conduct extended searches at the PSOE's national headquarters, located
on Ferraz Street in Madrid. The court order allows for up to 24 continuous hours
of operations, in an operation considered to have a high political and media
impact.
The court ruling has intensified
the confrontation between the government and the opposition. While critics
maintain that the document reveals an alleged plot of institutional
interference to politically shield the presidential circle, Socialist leaders
have denounced a campaign of political and media attrition against the
government.
The case remains under
investigation, and further proceedings, appearances, and possible expansions of
the case are expected in the coming weeks, in a scenario that threatens to
further increase political tension in Spain.
