According to reports from FOX News, the state of California is facing a significant increase in its budget deficit under the administration of Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom.
According to these reports, the fiscal imbalance has already
reached $18 billion and, if the current trend continues, could rise to $35
billion by 2027. The news outlet attributes this increase to state spending on
programs and benefits aimed at undocumented immigrants.
FOX News also points out that the federal administration led
by Donald Trump is taking steps to limit undocumented immigrants' access to
certain government-funded benefits—benefits that citizens themselves deserve.
As part of this stance, the Justice Department has reportedly filed a lawsuit
against Newsom for allowing undocumented individuals to access reduced tuition
rates at state universities.
Within this context, the network asserts that more than
80,000 undocumented immigrants are currently enrolled in California public
universities, while thousands upon thousands of citizens are denied access.
Furthermore, this figure—according to their interpretation—influences both the
fiscal debate and the political dispute between the state and federal
governments.
Remember: Newsom wants to be president someday!
