María Corina Machado Dedicates Nobel Peace Prize to Donald Trump and Thanks International Support for the Venezuelan Cause

Opposition leader María Corina Machado, one of the most influential voices of the democratic movement in Venezuela, spoke to the international community by dedicating her newly won Nobel Peace Prize to United States President Donald Trump, in recognition—in her words—of his constant support for the fight for freedom and democracy in her country.

During her acceptance speech, Machado expressed that the recognition does not belong solely to her, but to the Venezuelan people who have resisted more than two decades of authoritarianism under the regime of Nicolás Maduro. In a message charged with emotion and political tone, she stated:

“We are on the verge of victory, and today, more than ever, we count on President Trump, the people of the United States, the people of Latin America, and the democratic nations of the world as our principal allies in achieving freedom and democracy.”

The opposition leader's gesture was greeted with applause by conservative and anti-communist sectors, especially in Washington and in Venezuelan communities in exile, who have seen Trump as a strategic ally in international pressure against the Chavista regime.

Political analysts emphasize that Machado's statement marks a new chapter in the alliance between the Venezuelan opposition and certain international leaders promoting sanctions and diplomatic measures against Caracas. Her dedication also seeks to revive external support at a time when the opposition is trying to reorganize and project a democratic transition after years of internal divisions.

For their part, Nicolás Maduro and government spokespeople did nothing but kick up their heels amid growing fear, rejecting Machado's statements, calling them "submission to imperialism" and an attempt to "internationalize Venezuelan politics under foreign interests."

The Nobel Peace Prize awarded to Machado has been interpreted by international observers as recognition of civil resistance and the defense of human rights in Venezuela, as well as a symbolic call to strengthen global efforts to restore democratic institutions in the country.
