Conservative House Republicans have begun to complain about
what they consider a troubling lack of DOGE-recommended cuts in the "big,
beautiful" bill, which reportedly reflects President Donald Trump's
second-term agenda.
Some have even speculated that a growing number of
Republicans might prefer to delay the cuts until after the 2026 midterm
elections, although it is uncertain whether the GOP will retain control of one
or both chambers of Congress, making Trump a presidential candidate for two
years.
Tech billionaire Elon Musk, who spearheaded the DOGE
initiative, sparked controversy this week by criticizing a sweeping package
passed by the House last week that promotes Trump's fiscal priorities,
expressing concern about the bill's potential impact on the deficit.
