A federal judge in San Francisco on Monday dismissed
California's case against President Trump's tariffs, arguing that there was a
problem with the state's authority.
Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley, a former President Joe Biden
appointee, delivered bad news to California Governor Gavin Newsom and Attorney
General Rob Bonta after they sued Trump and several federal agencies in April.
The case was already in the U.S. District Court for the
Northern District of California, but the Trump administration asked the judge
to transfer it to the U.S. Court of International Trade for New York. Instead,
she dismissed Newsom and Bonta's case entirely.
This meant the two Democrats could appeal to the U.S. Court
of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, known for its leftist stance.
