US and Chinese officials are currently continuing their tariff
negotiations, but China has already made concessions, either as a show of good
faith or as tacit acknowledgment that the Trump administration has its sights
set on the communist nation.
According to the most recent sources, about a quarter of all
US imports to China have been surreptitiously exempted from the 125% tariffs,
representing $40 billion worth of US-made goods that will now reach Chinese
customers without the exorbitant surcharge.
The decision comes as Beijing seeks to cushion the damage to
its economy caused by the sweeping 145% tariff imposed by President Donald
Trump on Chinese goods.
Pharmaceuticals and industrial chemicals are among the
exempted products. /CBrief
