There had been talk earlier of some disagreements between
China and the United States over tariffs, a story confirmed by President Donald
Trump's social media post, explaining why he is losing considerations with the
so-called "Asian Giant."
President Trump harshly criticized China for violating the
tariff agreement: "Two weeks ago, China was in grave economic danger! The
extremely high tariffs I imposed made it virtually impossible for China to
trade with the US market, which is by far the number one in the world."
He also explained the consequences that the break with the
United States has had on China, data that have also been explained by
economists from around the world.
"Indeed, we decided to abruptly close off China, and it
was devastating for them. Many factories closed, and there was, to put it
mildly, 'civil unrest.' I saw what was happening, and I didn't like it—for
them, not for us. I reached a quick agreement with China to save them from what
I thought would be a very serious situation, and I didn't want that to
happen."
"Thanks to this agreement, everything quickly
stabilized and China returned to normal. Everyone was happy! That's the good
news! The bad news is that China, perhaps unsurprisingly, has completely
violated its agreement with us. So much for good vibes!"
