Vice President J.D. Vance expressed his strong support for
President Donald Trump's trade policies this week, arguing that they will have
a long-term positive impact on the United States.
During his address at the American Dynamism Summit, the vice
president harshly criticized the fundamental premise of globalism and the
elimination of manufacturing jobs in the United States.
“But first, President Trump is beginning and is very serious
about reorganizing our international trade and tariff regime. It must happen. We
believe tariffs are a necessary tool to protect our jobs and our industries
from other countries, as well as the labor value of our workers in a globalized
marketplace. In fact, combined with the right technology, they allow us to
bring jobs back to the United States and create the jobs of the future,” Vance
stated.
Just look at the auto industry in recent months as an
important example. By erecting a tariff wall around a crucial industry like the
auto industry, and combining it with advanced robotics, lower energy costs, and
other tools that increase labor productivity, a multiplier effect is generated
for American workers. This, in turn, allows companies to produce products here
at competitive prices, Vance added.
