Acting IRS Commissioner Melanie Krause resigned following a
Trump administration agreement under which the agency will share taxpayer
information with Department of Homeland Security officials to help them track
undocumented immigrants.
Krause informed her staff of her resignation on Tuesday,
according to CNN.
The first commissioner to resign recently was Danny Wurful,
appointed by the Biden administration. He resigned on January 20, the day
President Trump took office. The next was Douglas O'Donnell, who was appointed
acting commissioner shortly after Wurful's resignation. O'Donnell, a career IRS
official, announced his retirement on February 26.
Krause, the former IRS chief operating officer, was
appointed to the acting position by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
