A Republican senator expresses concern about the potential
economic consequences of Donald Trump's new tariffs.
Senator Rand Paul, a prominent libertarian from Kentucky,
has been one of the few Republican voices to openly criticize the president's
latest round of tariffs.
Paul has been warning for months about the dangers of
protectionist policies, and last fall he expressed concern about the impact
they could have on the US economy.
Now, Paul warns that the tariffs could also have political
consequences, which could spell disaster for Republicans.
Speaking to reporters, he stated that in addition to
disrupting markets, the tariffs have also "caused political
devastation."
