Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, following a week-long trip
to Panama, accused China on Sunday of trying to seize the country's historic
canal.
“The communist Chinese want to control politicians,” Hegseth
said on Fox News. “They're building infrastructure projects. They want to
monitor. They want to take over that canal. President Trump is saying, ‘Not on
our watch,’ and we're fighting back.”
The United States, Hegseth asserted, has remained “asleep at
the wheel.”
