A Minnesota farmer got an unexpected surprise while working in the cornfield: he found a huge metallic structure, approximately 3.35 meters in diameter, that apparently fell from space.
The discovery occurred on October 14 in a rural area of
Scott Township, in Stevens County, western Minnesota. After receiving the
report, sheriff's deputies went to the site and confirmed the presence of the
object, whose surface showed signs of burning.
Authorities believe it could be debris from space, possibly
a component of a rocket or satellite. However, its origin has not yet been
confirmed, nor has its owner been officially identified.
The case caught the attention of state and federal
authorities, who coordinated efforts to remove the structure and determine its
origin. According to initial reports, the object had serial numbers that could
help trace its origin.
The farmer suspects the object had been in the field for
several weeks, as he noticed corn growing beneath it. The discovery caused no
injuries, and authorities indicated it poses no immediate danger to the public.
Although the find sparked speculation on social media, there
is no evidence linking it to extraterrestrial activity. The leading hypothesis
is that it is human-made space debris.
For now, the mystery remains: researchers will have to
determine where the structure came from and how it ended up in the middle of a
Minnesota farmland.
