Thousands of people participated in a political event in the capital of Amazonas, in the final stretch of the Brazilian election campaign. ALL WITH BOLSONARO
Manaus, capital of the Brazilian state of Amazonas, was the
scene of a political rally in support of presidential candidate Flávio
Bolsonaro and the candidate for governor, Maria do Carmo Seffair.
The rally took place on Monday, October 19, in the tourist
area of Ponta Negra, where thousands of supporters, many dressed in the green
and yellow colors of the Brazilian flag, participated in a campaign activity
known as “Bloquinho do 22” (Little Block of the 22nd). The event also featured
the presence of figures from the Brazilian right, including Congressman Nikolas
Ferreira.
The mobilization, held in the final stretch of the campaign
for the second round of elections scheduled for October 25, sought to exceed
all expectations and strengthen support for candidates linked to the Liberal
Party.
The turnout in Manaus reflects the ability of conservative
sectors in that city to mobilize. Critics, however, responded to the massive
displays of support for Bolsonaro with the traditional refrain: "A single
massive rally does not, in itself, determine the magnitude of political support
throughout Brazil or anticipate the election results."
But we must not overlook the fact that this event is part of
a series of campaign activities held in the Amazonian capital during October,
amidst intense political competition. Similar events took place in various
cities, including the nation's capital, where crowds, knowing where they were
going and for what purpose, chanted repeatedly: "Victory belongs to
Bolsonaro," "The oppressive left is finished."
