During his address to the United Nations General Assembly, US President Donald Trump delivered a forceful message about national sovereignty and rejected the possibility of establishing global mechanisms, including a potential global carbon tax.
“There is no global government. As long as I am president,
there will be no global taxes,” Trump stated during his speech.
With his characteristic force and determination, the
president also questioned international initiatives related to the diversity,
equity, and inclusion (DEI) agenda, while maintaining that public policy
decisions should remain under the authority of each nation.
Trump's message was not limited to his speech. According to
the data provided, his administration pushed for a 15% reduction in the UN
budget and the elimination of more than 4,000 positions linked to the
organization and its bureaucratic structure.
The US president's stance reflects his approach of reducing
the influence of multilateral organizations on national decisions and
prioritizing US autonomy over global initiatives being hastily promoted by the
world's radical left.
His remarks once again placed at the center of the debate
the relationship between the independence of states, international
cooperation—which some seek to transform into one-party impositions on the rest
of the world—and the role that organizations like the UN, which rely primarily
on US funding, should play.
