TEXAS— A Venezuelan citizen was shot by an agent of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during an operation in Austin, Texas, in a case that is already under investigation by federal authorities.
According to information released by U.S. authorities, the
man was in the United States illegally and had final deportation orders against
him, so he was under the radar of immigration authorities.
The incident occurred during an operation in Austin and
ended with the Venezuelan citizen being shot by an ICE agent. After the
shooting, he was taken to a hospital for medical treatment and was later taken
into immigration custody.
The Austin Police Department confirmed that its officers did
not participate directly in the operation or in the use of firearms. The
