University of Cambridge to Review Senior Staff Hiring Procedures Following Plagiarism Allegations

LONDON—The University of Cambridge announced Friday that it will review its hiring procedures for senior positions as it investigates plagiarism allegations made by a professor who resigned this week.

The institution stated that the review aims to analyze the process by which its senior staff are selected and hired, amid questions raised by the allegations made by the professor before leaving his post.

The allegations have generated concern within the university and could lead to changes in the mechanisms used to evaluate the backgrounds and work of candidates for senior positions.

Cambridge indicated that the investigation into the allegations will continue while the review of its internal procedures is underway. The university has not yet reached any conclusions regarding the allegations, and the process will determine the facts and corresponding responsibilities.

The case once again puts academic integrity mechanisms and senior staff selection processes under scrutiny at one of the UK's most prestigious universities.
