Moscow—The Kremlin is reportedly preparing a new military escalation against Ukraine after Vladimir Putin concluded that negotiations aimed at reaching a peace agreement have stalled, according to a Bloomberg report.
The report indicates that Moscow is considering intensifying
its military operations as it loses hope of achieving diplomatic progress in
the short term.
The potential escalation comes at a time when efforts to
find a negotiated solution to the conflict have failed to overcome fundamental
differences between Russia and Ukraine.
Putin has reportedly concluded that the talks are not
producing the results he expected, a perception that could lead the Russian
government to once again resort to increased military pressure on the ground.
Should the new escalation materialize, Ukraine could face an
increase in Russian attacks against various parts of the country, while its
Western allies would have to consider new measures of military and economic
support for Kyiv. The Bloomberg report doesn't mean a new offensive has begun,
but rather that Russia is preparing to escalate military action given the lack
