The head of U.S. Southern Command, Francis Donovan, reported
that approximately 2,000 U.S. troops are participating in the response operations
following the earthquakes that have struck Venezuela. The deployment aims to
provide support for emergency tasks, humanitarian assistance, and coordination
with the authorities responsible for assisting the affected population.
According to the high-ranking military official, the U.S.
forces are collaborating on various actions aimed at facilitating rescue
efforts, the distribution of aid, and providing assistance to communities
impacted by the seismic activity. The operation also includes logistical and
coordination support to expedite the emergency response.
The announcement reflects the magnitude of the damage caused
by the earthquakes and the need to mobilize international resources to
strengthen relief efforts. While assessments of the damage continue,
authorities are maintaining efforts to assist those affected and restore
conditions in the most severely impacted areas.
