The administration of President Donald Trump, through the
Federal Communications Commission (FCC), plans to implement a ban on the import
of humanoid and quadruped robots manufactured in China, as well as power
inverters connected to communication networks.
According to information published by ZeroHedge, the measure
would be part of a strategy to strengthen national security and reduce the
risks associated with the use of technology developed by Chinese companies in
infrastructure considered critical.
The restriction would apply to robots with advanced mobility
and interaction capabilities, as well as connected power inverters, devices
used to convert electrical current and widely used in solar energy systems,
battery storage, and other energy applications.
So far, the Federal Communications Commission has not
announced the date on which the measure would take effect or details about its
final scope. However, the initiative joins a series of measures promoted by
Washington to limit the presence of Chinese technology in strategic sectors of
the United States.
The proposal is expected to generate reactions from both
technology manufacturers and the energy industry, due to the impact it could
have on supply chains and the high-tech equipment market.
