Attorney Gerardo Rincón, a member of Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán's legal team, announced his intention to travel to Washington, D.C., to deliver a dossier that he claims contains alleged evidence related to acts of corruption and supposed links between various Mexican political figures and drug trafficking organizations.
According to the lawyer, the document contains information
implicating 32 politicians from both previous federal and state
administrations, as well as current governments. Rincón asserted that the
material includes videos, documents, and other elements that, in his opinion,
support the accusations he intends to make available to U.S. authorities for
their review.
To date, the lawyer has not revealed the identities of the
individuals allegedly implicated, nor has he disclosed the content of the
evidence he claims to possess. It has also not been officially reported whether
any U.S. government agency has agreed to receive the file or has initiated any
proceedings stemming from these statements.
Consequently, any potential liability of the individuals who
may eventually be mentioned must be determined in accordance with the
corresponding legal procedures and with full respect for the principle of
presumption of innocence. Meanwhile, the statements remain as assertions made
by the defense of Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán, pending the existence of
verifiable evidence or pronouncements from the competent authorities regarding
the contents of the alleged file.
