Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif publicly expressed
his appreciation to US President Donald Trump for his willingness to extend a
ceasefire agreement amidst regional tensions.
In his statement, Sharif noted that, both personally and on
behalf of the Pakistani Army Chief of Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, he
valued Washington's decision to grant Islamabad's request. He explained that
this extension aims to provide additional time for ongoing diplomatic efforts
to proceed uninterrupted and with a greater chance of achieving concrete
results.
The statement reflects the importance of international
mediation in conflict scenarios, as well as the role played by global powers in
facilitating dialogues aimed at de-escalation. It also underscores the
Pakistani government's commitment to prioritizing diplomatic channels as a
mechanism for resolving disputes and reducing tensions in the region.
