The internal process to designate the next Supreme Leader of
the Islamic Republic of Iran has concluded, according to statements attributed
to Iranian cleric Ahmad Alamolhoda. The cleric explained that the body
responsible for this designation has already made a formal decision on who will
occupy the highest position within the country's political and religious
structure.
The selection was carried out by the Assembly of Experts, an
institution composed of clerics who, according to the Iranian constitutional
system, have the exclusive responsibility of selecting and overseeing the
Supreme Leader. This body holds internal deliberations to evaluate candidates
who meet the necessary religious and political requirements for the position.
However, although the decision has reportedly been made by
the members of the assembly, Alamolhoda noted that the announcement of the
result does not depend directly on those who participated in the vote. The
official announcement is the responsibility of the Assembly of Experts'
secretariat, which will be in charge of publicly communicating the name of the
selected leader. The position of Supreme Leader represents the highest
authority in the Iranian political system. From this role, the leader wields broad
influence over key state institutions, including the armed forces, the
judiciary, and the government's strategic direction.
While awaiting the official announcement, attention both
inside and outside Iran remains focused on the outcome of this process, as the
identity of the new leader could have significant implications for the
country's domestic politics and its relationship with the international
community.
