Senator Ted Cruz publicly announced his endorsement of Steve
Toth in the primary race for the Republican nomination for Texas' 2nd
Congressional District, a seat currently held by Congressman Dan Crenshaw.
In his statement, Cruz highlighted Toth's legislative record
in the state House of Representatives, emphasizing his commitment—as he put
it—to the conservative principles that, in his view, characterize Texas:
defense of individual liberties, limited government, and strict adherence to
the Constitution.
The senator also emphasized Toth's stance on issues such as
school choice and control of public spending, noting that the current political
climate demands representatives with ideological convictions and a willingness
to confront Washington when necessary. According to Cruz, Toth possesses the
political experience and determination needed to consistently represent the
district's voters.
Finally, the Texas legislator made a direct appeal to the
voters of District 2 to support Toth's candidacy, stating that his arrival in
Congress would strengthen the state's conservative representation in the
federal capital.
