In response to a surge in violence linked to drug cartels,
the U.S. government issued an urgent warning to its citizens in various Mexican
states. The measure comes in response to increased armed clashes, road
blockades, and security operations that have raised the risk level in certain
areas.
The alert covers states such as Jalisco—including tourist
destinations and major cities—as well as Tamaulipas, Michoacán, Guerrero, Nuevo
León, and other regions where recent incidents have been reported. U.S.
authorities urged their citizens to limit their movements as much as possible and
remain in safe locations until the situation stabilizes.
Among the recommendations issued are avoiding unnecessary
travel, staying away from areas with a security presence or potential clashes,
staying informed through reliable local media, and avoiding crowds or large
gatherings.
The guidance applies to both tourists and temporary or
permanent residents. The call underlines the importance of prioritizing
personal safety and following official instructions at all times while the
context of instability continues in the designated areas.
